Imperial Thermal Engineering - CN Awards winners 2023

Imperial Thermal Engineering has won Best Product Innovation at the Construction News Awards 2023, for its all-electric flame free dryer and self-adhesive felt activator: the Etorch3. This original product is used in the roof installation process and was created to challenge and reduce the carbon emissions caused by production in the construction industry.

Jonathan Forbes-Brown, designer of the Etorch3 and MD at Imperial Thermal Engineering says, “I am so excited to win in this category, as it sends a message of progress to the roofing and wider construction industry.”

Steven Gilchrist, judge and presenter at the Construction News Awards, explains “We were really pleased to pick the Etorch3 as the winner. The inspiring father and son team of Jonathan and Joshua were so passionate about the invention of this product.

“The Etorch3 makes the application of self-adhesive roofing systems very simple and can quickly dry any surface.”

With 32 entries in this category and 9 shortlisted, this win for Imperial Thermal Engineering and its Etorch3 pushes for change to reduce emissions and improve safety in the roofing process. The team were happy to have a platform to celebrate these changes on stage in front of a crowd of more than 1,200 construction industry professionals, including contractors and suppliers, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Mayfair on July 13th.
